Years in Business: 5 years October 2011 (24 years total with other ownership). ReAction Source For Sports® has been with the Sports Distributors of Canada group of retailers for 7 years (we have owned it for 5 years).
A bit of history about your business: The original owner was Bud Wangler – CRAZY BUDS SPORTING GOODS – he operated a new and used store at the old Bowen Road location in Nanaimo, BC for 12 years. Ron and Jackie Ainey purchased the inventory and took over the lease on Bowen Rd. and changed the name to ReAction Sports®. This remained an independent store for 5 years before joining the Source for Sports® group. After joining SDC, the Ainey’s continued to operate ReAction Source for Sports® for another 2 years. Sean and JoLynn Krause purchased the store's assets and inventory in October of 2006 and have continued growing the business. In June 2010 the store moved into a new 6000 square foot building.

Community involvement: ReAction Source For Sports® is proud to sponsor a variety of teams, leagues, tournaments, fundraisers and associations. We are an active sponsor/partner with our local Pacific Sport Athletes. Currently the store is associated with the following local minor sports organizations: 5 Initiation level Nanaimo Minor Hockey teams, Silvertips Major Midget hockey team, Nanaimo and District Lacrosse Assn., Nanaimo Minor Baseball Assn., Central Island Youth Soccer, Nanaimo and District Fastball Assn., WPVL Fastball Assn., Football Nanaimo, and Young Guns Hockey Program. We also participate in the Super Sport program for young hockey players aged 5 to 8 years.
ReAction Source For Sports® is also involved with local adult organizations, Jr. and Sr. programs: Nanaimo Clippers Jr. A Hockey team, Alberni Valley Bulldogs Jr. A Hockey team, Parksville Generals Jr. B Hockey team, Sr. A Timbermen Lacrosse, Nanaimo Sr. B Timbermen Lacrosse, Nanaimo Jr. A Timbermen Lacrosse, Nanaimo Jr. B Timbermen Lacrosse, Nanaimo Jr. A Girls Timbermen Lacrosse, Wheatchief Men’s Fastball, VI Raiders Jr. Football, Vancouver Island University Soccer and Baseball teams as well as the VI Baseball Institute.
We also participate in 15 local tournaments (various sports), about 100 beer and burger type fundraising events, and assist whenever we can to non sport related organization such as Ride to Conquer Cancer, Nanaimo Children’s Help Phone, and local school fundraisers.
The store is also proud to support the Nanaimo Fire Fighters Hockey team that will participate in the 2011 World Police and Fire Games in New York City this September.
Owner Sean Krause, is also an active minor hockey and lacrosse coach in Nanaimo. Staff member Taylor Slaght is the Receiver Coach for the VI Raiders Jr Football team, Ryan Bradley coaches minor hockey and spring hockey and just finished play Jr. Hockey on Vancouver Island; Cassie Livesey is a local Jr. A Girls Lacrosse player and Sr. Female hockey player; and Paul Brebber is in his 3rd year with the Nanaimo Jr. A Lacrosse team and will be leaving on a US scholarship for lacrosse next year.Long time employee Karen Ranger has been with this store since the beginning and is a valuable resource to ReAction Source For Sports® and the community.
Hobbies / Interests: Sean and JoLynn are active in the community with their kids (Taylor 8 and Carter 6). Sean continues to play hockey, lacrosse, softball, golf, skiing and most recently has taken up cycling. JoLynn is active with the kids and enjoys softball, running, swimming, golf, and skiing. Both kids are involved in many sports, arts and community activities.
